La
Cátedra de Danza
La Cátedra de Danza del Ballet Nacional de Cuba se funda en La Habana en el mes de marzo de 1998, bajo la dirección de Alicia Alonso. El claustro está integrado por maitres y profesores del Ballet Nacional de Cuba y otros especialistas designados por su dirección, todos de reconocido prestigio internacional.
Su objetivo fundamental es trasmitir una experiencia de trabajo en el campo de la danza que permita, tanto a estudiantes como a maestros de ballet, profundizar en la técnica del ballet clásico y otras disciplinas afines, adentrándose en los estilos, gustos y formas de expresión desarrolladas por el ballet cubano, especialmente, la metodología de la escuela cubana de ballet, que asume el lenguaje universal de la técnica clásica, la expresión de la cultura, idiosincrasia y la estética de la cultura latinoamericana, y tiene sus raíces en las características étnicas y culturales de los pueblos iberoamericanos y del Caribe.
La Cátedra
tiene cuatro líneas fundamentales de trabajo
- Entrenamiento para estudiantes extranjeros de los niveles intermedio y avanzado y para maestros de Ballet
- Talleres Internacionales de Ballet
- Taller Vocacional de Ballet para niños y jóvenes entre los cinco y dieciséis años de edad
- Montaje de ballets para niños en escuelas y academias de ballet

ENTRENAMIENTO PARA ESTUDIANTES EXTRANJEROS
El entrenamiento se realiza en la sede del Ballet Nacional de Cuba en La Habana. Puede iniciarse, por acuerdo previo, en cualquier época del año y por el tiempo que el interesado desee. Los cursos se estructuran de acuerdo con los intereses de los solicitantes y se conforman por módulos con las siguientes asignaturas: Ballet, Puntas, Preparación Física, Técnica Pilates, Maquillaje, Dúo clásico, Variaciones, Danzas populares cubanas, y Bailes españoles. Para los cursos de maestros se pueden añadir las siguientes asignaturas: Metodología, Historia de la Danza y Diseño teatral.
El precio de los cursos está en dependencia de las asignaturas solicitadas y el número de clases. Por ejemplo, ofrecemos un módulo estructurado por clases diarias de Ballet, de lunes a sábado; Puntas, dos veces por semana; Preparación física, tres veces por semana; Maquillaje y Dúo clásico, una vez por semana. El precio de este módulo es de 350.00 CUC, (pesos cubanos convertibles) mensuales.
Para solicitar la matrícula los alumnos deben tener 18 años o más, o en su defecto, viajar y permanecer acompañados con un adulto responsable. Es indispensable que viajen con una visa de estudiante (D2) que la institución cubana solicita se sitúe en los consulados cubanos en el exterior. Para ello se necesita conocer los siguientes datos con no menos de 30 días hábiles de antelación al viaje: nombre completo, fecha y lugar de nacimiento, ciudadanía, número de pasaporte con fecha de expedición y vencimiento, (o fotocopia del pasaporte) fecha en que se viajará, tiempo de estancia, consulado cubano donde situar la visa, tiempo de entrenamiento previo en ballet que posee el estudiante, así como una carta del último centro donde cursó estudios de ballet, certificando su aprovechamiento docente, disciplina y comportamiento social. Los alumnos se pueden alojar en hoteles o en casas de familias cubanas autorizadas a rentar habitaciones a estudiantes extranjeros.

Al finalizar el período de entrenamiento se entrega un certificado, en el que consta el tiempo de adiestramiento recibido en la Cátedra de Danza.
2) TALLERES
INTERNACIONALES
Los Talleres Internacionales se imparten en instituciones docentes y artísticas de otros países y pueden tener una duración de dos, tres o cuatro semanas, de acuerdo con los intereses de la institución solicitante. Estos Talleres se estructuran mediante módulos para estudiantes, maestros o grupos específicos de acuerdo con la edad y el nivel previo de entrenamiento en ballet de los alumnos matriculados. Las asignaturas pueden variar de acuerdo con los intereses del grupo o entidad solicitante.
3) TALLER
VOCACIONAL DE BALLET:
El Taller Vocacional se creó en el año 1999 con el objetivo fundamental de promulgar la enseñanza del ballet a niños y jóvenes entre los cinco y dieciséis años de edad interesados en el ballet y sin establecer para ello estrictos requisitos de idoneidad física o de aptitud.
Entre sus objetivos particulares se pueden destacar los siguientes:
- Fomentar la afición y el nivel de apreciación del ballet
- Contribuir al desarrollo físico, psicológico, intelectual y artístico de los alumnos matriculados
- Contribuir a la realización vocacional de este grupo poblacional
Las clases se imparten de lunes a viernes en el horario de 5:30 PM a 9:00 PM en los salones del Ballet Nacional de Cuba en La Habana. Se estructuran en grupos por edades y niveles con dos frecuencias semanales para los estudiantes matriculados en los cursos preparatorios (entre los cinco y siete años de edad), y tres frecuencias semanales para los estudiantes de los restantes grupos etáreos. Complementariamente, se ofrecen clases de Preparación física a los estudiantes de 8 y 9 años de edad.
El curso se inicia en el mes de septiembre y concluye en el mes de junio. Al final del período académico, se realizan funciones en las que participa la totalidad de los estudiantes.
4) MONTAJE DE BALLETS INFANTILES
La Cátedra de Danza ofrece asesoría en el montaje de ballets, representaciones y galas artísticas infantiles que se realizan en las escuelas y academias de ballet.
Se han llevado a escena versiones coreográficas de los siguientes cuentos infantiles: Blancanieves y los siete enanitos, Aladino, Hansel y Gretel, El soldadito de plomo, Sueño de Abuelos, entre otros.
Estos montajes se concertan mediante contrato entre el Ballet Nacional de Cuba y la institución interesada.

SPECIAL TRAINING/EDUCATION
DEPARTMENT BALLET NACIONAL DE CUBA
The Special Training/Education Department of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba was founded in Havana in March 1998, under the direction of Alicia Alonso. The staff is composed of maitres and professors of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and other specialists designated by their directions, all of well-known international prestige.
Its main objective is to transmit a work experience in the field of the dance that allows, both the students and ballet teachers, to deepen into the technique of the classical ballet and other related disciplines, going into the styles, tastes and expression forms developed by the Cuban ballet, especially, the methodology of the Cuban school of ballet that assumes the universal language of the classical technique, the expression of the culture, idiosyncrasy and the aesthetics of the Latin American culture, that has its roots in the ethnic and cultural characteristics of the Ibero-American and of the Caribbean peoples.
The Special Training/Education Department of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba has four fundamental work lines:
1) Training for foreign students of the intermediate and advanced levels and for Ballet teachers
2) International Ballet workshops
3) Vocational Ballet workshops for children and youths between five and sixteen years of age
4) Ballet staging for children in schools and ballet academies

TRAINING COURSES FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
1) TRAINING FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
The training takes place in the headquarters of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba in Havana. It can start, by previous agreement, in any time of the year and for the time required by the interested one. The courses are structured in accordance with the interests of the applicants and they can be shaped by modules with the following subjects: Ballet, Pointes, Physical Training, Pilates Technique, Make-up, Classical Duet, Variations, Cuban Popular Dances, and Spanish Dances. For teachers’ courses the following subjects can be added: Methodology, History of the Dance and Theatrical Design.
The price of the courses depends on the requested subjects and the number of classes. For example, we offer a module structured by daily classes of Ballet, from Monday to Saturday; Pointes, twice per week; Physical Training, three times per week; Make-up and Classical Duet, once per week. The price of this module is 350.00 CUC, (convertible Cuban pesos) monthly.
To request their registration the students should be 18 years old or over, or to travel and remain accompanied by a responsible adult. It is indispensable that they travel with student's visa (D2) that the Cuban institution requests and locates in the Cuban consulates abroad. In this cases, it is necessary to know the following data not less than 30 working days in advance to the trip: full names, birth date and birthplace, citizenship, passport number with the dates of issue and expiration, (or passport photocopies), the planned travel dates, time of stay, Cuban consulate where to locate the visa, and time of previous ballet training by the student. A letter of the last center where the person took ballet studies should be provided, certifying his/her educational progress, discipline and social behavior, as well as a medical and dentist insurance. The students can be accommodated in hotels or in houses of Cuban families authorized to provide rooms for foreign students.
It is indispensable for the future students to travel with an insurance contract for medical and dentist care. This contract should be valid in Cuba.

When concluding the period of training the student receives a certificate, in which it is stated the time of training at the Special Training/Education Department of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba.

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOPS
The International Shops are given in educational and artistic institutions of other countries and they can be two, three or four weeks long, in accordance with the interests of the applicant institution. These workshops are structured by means of modules for students, teachers or specific groups regarding age and previous level of ballet training in the registered students. The subjects can vary in accordance with the interests of the group or applicant entity.
3) VOCATIONAL WORKSHOP
Vocational workshops were created in 1999 with the main goal of spreading the teaching of ballet to children and youths between five and sixteen years of age interested in ballet and without establishing any strict requirement of physical suitability or aptitude.
Among their particular objectives the following may be highlighted:
- To encourage the liking and the appreciation level of ballet
- To contribute to the physical, psychological, intellectual and artistic development of the registered students
- To contribute to the vocational realization of this population group
Classes are given from Monday to Friday from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm in the studios of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba in Havana. They are structured in groups by ages and levels with two weekly shifts for the students registered in the preparatory courses (between five and seven years of age), and three weekly shifts for the students of the remaining groups. Additionally, classes of Physical Training are offered to the students between 8 and 9 years of age.
The course begins in September and concludes in June. At the end of the academic year, there are performances in which participate all of the students.

STAGING OF CHILDREN BALLETS
The Special Training/Education Department of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba offers consultancy in the staging of ballets, representations and children artistic galas carried out in schools and ballet academies.
Choreographic versions of the following children stories have been staged: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Aladdin, Hansel and Gretel, Tin Soldier, and Grandparents’ Dream, among others.
Staging is arranged by means of contract between the Ballet Nacional de Cuba and the interested institution.
